Thanksgiving

If someone would have told me 10 years ago that in 2019 I’d have a baby AND have to fight for my husband’s permanent residency, I would have laughed. And then, if they would have told me that I’d somehow get through it all, I don’t know if I would have believed them.

Life is amazing AND tough.

This year’s Thanksgiving will be far different than previous Thanksgivings. Jose won’t be there sitting next to me, but we will be together in each other’s hearts. Jose’s preparing a whole Thanksgiving meal for his mom and his family in Mexico, and I’ll be celebrating with my family, too. My mom and I are in charge of the sweet potatoes.

And, we can finally breathe! After over three years of hard work, detailed paperwork and money, he’s going to be coming home. He’s coming home. It all still feels kind of surreal.

We are both surrounded with the best family, friends and coworkers that have stood strong for us on our toughest days. We are grateful, especially this year, for everyone‘s support. We wouldn’t be where we are today without you.

I can’t wait to pick up Jose at the airport. I can’t wait to hug him and kiss him. I can’t wait to say goodnight to him by my side. I can’t wait to see him and Luisa dancing in the kitchen together.

The past few days have been some of the hardest days for us, but man, I made it, we made it. We’re one strong family. He’s coming home!

We’ve been given the best gift this holiday season–our family can be together.

This will certainly be a Thanksgiving we never ever forget.
